Street Style: Black Black White Punk Black Chic

First of all, hair. I want hair that white, with no bleaching. I've been craving a new change. Maybe white tips?  This lady has style like woah. I wear black a lot (especially in NY) as do a lot of people. But she is wearing black on black on black with interesting textures, and it contrasts with her hair so well. Also, her silver earrings (and black stud) further pull your eye to the contrast. ALSO CLAW RING! This girl is catwoman disguised by dressing as a very stylish tourist maybe? That claw ring is tough. Lisbeth Salander could use one of those....

Frida Kahlo

Words from Frida Kahlo.

“They thought I was a Surrealist, but I wasn't. I never painted dreams. I painted my own reality.”

"I paint my own reality. The only thing I know is that I paint because I need to, and I paint whatever passes through my head without any other consideration"

"I think that little by little I'll be able to solve my problems and survive"

“My painting carries with it the message of pain.”

“I paint self-portraits because I am so often alone, because I am the person I know best.”

"I used to think I was the strangest person in the world but then I thought there are so many people in the world, there must be someone just like me who feels bizarre and flawed in the same ways I do. I would imagine her, and imagine that she must be out there thinking of me too. Well, I hope that if you are out there and read this and know that, yes, it's true I'm here, and I'm just as strange as you."

“Mai in vita mia
Dimenticherò la tua presenza.
Tu mi hai presa quando ero spezzata
E mi hai riparata
Su questa terra troppo piccola
Dove potrei mai voltare il mio sguardo?
Così immenso, così profondo!
Non c'è più tempo. Non c'è più nulla. Distanza. C'è soltanto la realtà.
Quello che è stato, è stato per sempre.”

"Never in my life
Will I forget your presence.
You've taken me when I was broken
And I have repaired
On this earth too small
Where could I turn my gaze?
So immense, so deep!
There's no time. There's nothing left. Distance. There is only reality.
What was, was for ever. "

Street Style: New York Vintage Coat Spy Girl

I encountered this lovely lady and her friend in Washington Square Park, on a fall day a few months ago.

I love the unexpected color combinations. (cobalt blue + beige + reds + brown!) The contrast stitching on her wool coat is stunning, and I love her worn-in brown leather boots.

When I told her I liked her trench coat, she said she got it thrifting, and "I feel like a Swedish spy when I wear it. Like a cool spy woman."

I love it when clothes tell you a story, or make you feel like you are in one.

So for all I know, she is a spy (from Sweden)!

Street Style: New York, Sequins, Black Bob, Pops of Color

I love the sequined leather jacket with the cowl neckline on this NY girl. The all black with the pops of bright color and the leather backpack. Just adorable. Also, her nail game is amazing. Matching your nails AND rings to your outfit!? Skills.

Rings! Nails! Color pop!

Cat's Eye Abstract

Cat's Eye Abstract by Nora Rohman

This is a collage I made using images from polyvore. I think I may make prints of it. Or paint it in watercolor, then prints? Or put it on a totebag? Thoughts?

St. Teresa (Joan, I love you Joan)

More 90's buisness. What if God was one of us? Oh Joan. She got tagged a one hit wonder but her music is incredible, and she has continued to put out albums over the years. I still love it; the lyrics, her voice, and I love the images in this video.
also josie and the pussycats is the best movie ever
